 Assoc. Prof. Nipaporn Ngernyuang, Ph.D. received her Master’s degree in Genetics from Kasetsart University and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Khon Kaen University.

During her Master’s studies, she was selected as a visiting research student at the Transgenic Silkworm Research Center in Japan from January to May 2007. Under the supervision of Dr. Toshiki Tamura, she conducted research on “Transformation of Amylase Gene into Silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) by Using a piggyBac Vector.” This work provided advanced training in molecular genetics, transgenic technology, and insect biotechnology. As a result of this research, she served as the first author of the publication Cloning and Expression Analysis of the Bombyx mori α-Amylase Gene (Amy) from the Indigenous Thai Silkworm Strain, Nanglai.

 She later conducted a research fellowship at the Pioneer Valley Life Sciences Institute, University of Massachusetts Amherst, in the USA from April 2011 to July 2012 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rong Shao. Her research focused on “Functional Characterization of Glycoprotein YKL-40 and Molecular Mechanisms Underlying the Pathogenesis of Cervical Cancer.” During this period, she contributed to several peer-reviewed publications, including:

•Chitinase 3 Like 1 Is Associated with Tumor Angiogenesis in Cervical Cancer

•Anti-YKL-40 Antibody and Ionizing Irradiation Synergistically Inhibit Tumor Vascularization and Malignancy in Glioblastoma

•Tumor-Derived Mural-Like Cells Coordinate with Endothelial Cells: Role of YKL-40 in Mural Cell-Mediated Angiogenesis

•A Heparin-Binding Motif Rich in Arginine and Lysine Is the Functional Domain of YKL-40

In addition, she completed an advanced laboratory training program entitled “Advanced Training in Nanotechnology and Molecular Cancer Therapeutics” in the Department of Chemistry, University of Massachusetts Amherst, in USA, under the supervision of Prof. Vincent Rotello, from April to July 2017. This training further strengthened her expertise in nanotechnology-based therapeutics, molecular oncology, biomaterials, and translational biomedical research. Through this collaboration, she co-authored the publication Biodegradable Nanocomposite Antimicrobials for the Eradication of Multidrug-Resistant Bacterial Biofilms Without Accumulated Resistance.

These international research experiences have contributed substantially to her expertise in molecular genetics, cancer biology, nanotechnology, molecular therapeutics, and translational biomedical research, forming the foundation of her current research programs in cancer diagnostics, nanomedicine, and biomedical innovation. Currently, her research focuses on the development of green-synthesized gold nanoparticles for cancer diagnosis and targeted biomedical applications.
